The Teams in the 22nd Men's Handball World Championship

In January 2011 24 teams will make up for the world Champion title in handball.
Currently, only eleven teams are qualified: France as reigning champions, and Sweden, as host nation. During the European Championships in Austria in January 2010 another three European teams did qualify: Poland, Iceland and Croatia.

Three Asian teams qualified in February: Japan, Korea and Bahrain.

At the same time the African qualifications took place. Egypt, Tunisia and Algeria qualified from the African continent.

The remaining 13 teams will play qualification matches in 2010. In June 2010, it will be clear which 24 teams that will participate in Sweden. The draw will be held the 9th of July 2010 in Gothenburg, Sweden.

There are Staffan Olsson and Ola Lindgren – then two of the players in the golden Swedish era, now the leaders of the new Swedish handball generation.

Sweden has been waiting for a great achievement at international level since 2002. The today’s version of the Swedish squad are now prepared to conquer the best national teams again. Most of the players represent top clubs in Germany, Spain and Denmark.
And more is to come. Several talents are eagerly waiting for their chance to come. Sweden have qualified in all big tournaments that is up to come for Men, Men’s Youth, Men’s Junior, Women, Women’s Youth and Women’s Junior.

This guys will do everything to defend their gold from Croatia in 2009.

Handball is a popular sport in France. The big breakthrough for the sport's popularity came after the Olympics in 1992, when France unexpectedly won the bronze medals.
Since then, the team placed well in almost every major championship. In the following year France reached their first World Cup final, which they lost to Russia.
The first French World Cup title came against Croatia in Iceland in 1995.
