Even as Egypt had gone away to a six goal distance twice, Japan was strong enough to close the gap again in the middle of the second half. But by extending the lead from 27:24 to 32:26 the Northern Africans decided the match and reached the final, which will be played on Monday in Skövde. Top scorers were Belal Mabrouk (8 goals for Egypt) and Makuoto Suematsu with seven goals for Japan.</p> <p>Algeria – Korea 24:29 after extra time (12:17, 23:23)</p> <div class="field field-type-filefield field-field-illustrations-other"> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <img class="imagefield imagefield-field_illustrations_other" width="538" height="340" alt="" src="http://handball2011.com/sites/default/files/illustrations/37505.jpg?1295717647" /> </div> </div> </div> <p><a href="http://handball2011.com/news/egypt-and-korea-president-s-cup-final" target="_blank">read more</a></p> http://handball2011.com/news/egypt-and-korea-president-s-cup-final#comments Algeria Austria Egypt handball 2011 Japan Korea President's cup Romania Slovakia Tunisia English Sat, 22 Jan 2011 17:34:27 +0000 Karolina Berg 1982 at http://handball2011.com Double victory for Asia http://handball2011.com/news/double-victory-asia <div class="field field-type-filefield field-field-illustration"> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <img class="imagefield imagefield-field_illustration" width="400" height="209" alt="" src="http://handball2011.com/sites/default/files/illustrations/363o4903.jpg?1295547436" /> </div> </div> </div> <p>Japan and Korea took the first victories of the last match day of the Preliminary Round. And nothing changed after the break, as everything remained absolutely close. But as Daisuke Miyazaki scored the 31:29 and Hidenori Kishigawa hit the back of the net for the first three goal lead (33:30) 90 seconds before the final whistle the match had been decided. Top scorer was Makoto Suematso with outstanding twelve goals for Japan. Feeling that they won the match already, the Hungarians lost their concentration, so Japan was able to reduce the gap, but could not endanger Hungary.
