This is worst organization on World Championship EVER.Sweden winn game against Serbia with help from referees.Serbia got 2min susoension several times without reasons.Serbia was better, and they was leading 18-17 ,but then few accidentally referee mistakes and Sweden take big lead....Serbia was good but Sweden played like they have 8 men on floor so this is very bad for WORLD handball because this is not ok.I dont think Sweden is bad team, but Serbia surprise them and Serbia should win that game. Now Serbia will have bad motivation for next maches.....NICE JOB SWEDEN,I DIDNT EXPECT THIS FROM U.......

I love swedish handball, but they dont be medalist. They have strong team , but they havent very strong team. Placing: 5. until 8.
Nu tar vi detta! Jag vill se mycket av Källman och Andersson men skulle gärna vilja ha Ahlm och Lindell i truppen.

Oops, I'm sorry - I've just seen the Swedish squad on the blog recommended here - I take my question back as I can't delete the post. Anyway, good for Sweden to have him back, that makes Sweden more competitive.

Can somebody tell me why Magnus Jernemyr has not been featured in the squad again? He's head and shoulders above other Swedish defenders, not only on his position, and he's got a wealth of experience - I don't think Sweden can afford to give up on such a player...
i'm not sure who win this group. in my opinion Sweden have stars in team: Carlen, Andersson, Sjostrand, Beutler, Kallman, Arrhenius but i hope that Poland wins :)

Sweden's a very, very good team: they've got all the skills, tactics and discipline you could expect from a handball team but Staffan and Ola need to loosen their grip a little or tell their players to show more of their own initiative at the offensive end. However, some mean streak and more of a fighting spirit is absolutely crucial for Sweden - the two have only been on a decent level as far as I've witnessed in recent years and that is not enough to be successful. Should the coaches instill that attitude in the players (provided it is doable like that) or not, depend the medal chances for Sweden. In my opinion, that is.

Sweden had a brief history on sucess and failure, in 1938, no bronze for either Sweden or Denmark. in 1954, Sweden won gold on home court with a win over my other favorite team, Germany. Four year later in West Germany, they did it again, winning a 2nd gold medal over the host nation, in 1958, a 3rd gold medal won by Sweden as they defeat the Czechs. In 1961, Sweden's gold medal hopes dashed when they lose to Romania, but they had to settle for Bronze after they defeat the host nation West Germany. Four years later, Sweden loses the Gold medal game to Romania. In 1967, Sweden finished a disappointing 5th and they get no medal on home court either. in 1970, another disappointment for Sweden, 6th place in France, it was a national embarassment. In 1974 Sweden finished 10th in East Germany. 8th in Denmark back in 1978, 11th in West Germany back in 1982, 4th in Switzerland after they miss out on the bronze medal, Gold medal again in Czechoslovakia which is now called the Czech Republic. Bronze medal again on home court after they beat Switzerland as well as beating Germany back in 1995. Silver medal again after they lose to Russia in Japan back in 1997, in 1999, Sweden is back on top in Egypt after beating Russia. In 2001, Sweden settles for silver again after they lose to host nation France. In 2003, Sweden finishes a disappointing 13th in Portugal. 11th in Tunisia back in 2005. In 2007, Sweden miss the World Championship in Germany, after they fail to qualify. And last year in Croatia, Sweden finished 7th after a loss to hungary. Next year, Sweden's got the home court advantage at the world championship. Sweden's Group D apponents are Slovakia, Poland, Korea, Argentina and Chile. Good luck Sweden, you will need it.
