Spain third team in the semis

Spain third team in the semis

Still unbeaten team of Spain has booked their semi final ticket. With now 7:1 points after the clear 32:24 victory against Iceland they can’t be overtaken from any team from the second place in group I.

Group I: Iceland – Spain  24:32 (10:20)

Toreros on the run: After Denmark and Sweden in group II the day before the Spanish team has reached the semi-final with their sixth victory in their seventh game. France has the chance to follow their neighbours in their match against Norway this evening. If they win the decision about the group victory will be taken the final match day in the games France – Iceland and Spain – Hungary. The result of the Spanish match was surprisingly, as the Icelandics had won all their games in the Preliminary Round. Spain set the base for this important win in the first half, as they absolutely dominated their weak opponent. Apparently the defeat against Germany stopped the Icelandics, as they played without pressure in attack and with less motivation in defense. Spain scored 20 times in 30 minutes and the distance was already ten goals at the break. In the second half Spain controlled the match, even as Iceland reduced the gap to 20:25 by Arnor Atlasson in minute 45. But the Northern Europeans could not endanger the Iberians until the final score of 32:24. Top scorers were Gurbindo and Raul Entrerrios with each six goals.

Good game by Spain. Iceland had their worst fist half in years. The second half they showed their real face and got the gap to 20:25 with 10:5 in the fist 15 minutes of the second half. Well our task is now to get to the Olympics and the game against France is therefor very important. But Iceland will not get any points from that game, if we play like today. Again good game by Spain, congratulations.
Congrats to Spain, they seem like a candidate for the gold after this game, the game against Germany and draw against France. They simply outsmarted us, out ran, out played us. Much better team. Fair results, Iceland has no business gioing into the semi finals seeing how they played against Spain and Germany.
@Jon Gunnar, it wasnt exacly an honorable win, the spanish players kept making a deal out of nothing and as usual, the refferee wasnt paying complete attention, especially when the spanish did something to us but always saw when we we did something which most of the time was hardly anything. I call corrupted.
Spain today played an incredible game...the first time was perfect, strong defense and fast movements in attack. I hope Iceland can beat France, and finish in the third position of the group, because the silver medal of olympics games is a very good team.
Google Translate gerir kraftaverk! A kveðju til Íslands frá Barcelona og heppni gegn Frakklandi! I could not watch the game in Spain because, sadly, handball is a minority sport, there is only the damn football and this does not rise on the news. From Spain we have always seen Icelandic, Norwegian, Swedish and Danish as the goal we wanted to achieve. For me France is the favorite, but obviously I want Spain to win! Yes!, Google Translate does miracles! A greeting to Iceland from Barcelona and luck against France!
Pasa Torero!
There's a great spirit in our Spanish team somehow. Today I was worried about Iceland and their strong defeat power, but the crew played unrecognizable, final score was rude insolent. Nothing worked for the Icelanders.
Do you think that Spain and France conserved their key players in last games in the group?

Stop whining about the referees Maggý. Their ruling was good in my opinion. One time Vignir Svavarson basically punched Entrerrios, and Entrerrios was sent out for 2 minutes for "faking" the incident. Totally laughable, especially since they replayed where Vignir went to his face. The referees were good, Iceand was horroble. Time to face the truth and stop whining. With this kind of play I dont even want us in the semi finals. We would just make a fool out of us there too, Denmark would totally destroy us in the first game. Time to qualify for Olympics and then start thinking about next tournament.
Congrats Spain and France !!! The semi-finals should be great except for the venue... shame on Sweden for selecting such a place More available at http://nordic-handball.blogspot.com
the first half was amazing but i loved the second one!
