Playing times and venues for semi-finals fixed

In close cooperation with IHF TV partner UFA Sports and the Swedish OC the IHF Competition Management has fixed the playing times and venues for the semi-finals of the World Championship in Sweden.

The semi-final including Sweden will be played on 28 January, 18.00, in Malmö, the semi-final including Denmark will be played 28 January, 20.30, in Kristianstad.

The semi-final opponents will be decided in the last Match Day of Main Round Group I in Jönköping between Spain and France.

The match between Denmark and Sweden means nearly nothing. The main issue is the opponent : 1rst of a group plays against second of the other group. However, the matches are not synchronized. France plays last and can choose to willingly loose to encounter Danemark in Kristianstadt if Danemark ends first, avoiding Sweden in Malmö Arena The 4 teams will probably mainly play with substitutes, moreover the players fear injury before the finals. Content and result of these matches aren't very significant.
