The next decision in group I is taken: Norway will go for the places 9/10 and Germany will play for 11/12 after their clear defeat against the Northern Europeans.

Main Round, Group I in Jönköping:

Germany – Norway 25:35 (13:17)

The worst German result at a World Championship since 1998 is perfect: By losing clearly against Norway the Germans now will play for the place 11/12 on Thursday, as the Norwegians play for the ninth and tenth place. The German played desolate most of the time and received a well-deserved defeat. Only the first 20 minutes were on an equal level, then the Germans missed too many clear chances and Norway extended the lead from 9:9 to 12:9 in minute 22 and 15:10 in minute 25. Even as they had several big chances Germany could only reduce to 13:17 at the break. The pre-decision didn’t take long: Erlend Mamelund scored the 24:18 – the first six goal lead for the Norwegians in this match. The German resistance was broken completely and the Northern Europeans overran their opponent goal by goal in a match on low level. Top scorer was the Norwegian Havard Tvedten with eight goals.

Groteszk: Yes. Hungary will play Poland for the 7-8 place. Iceland will play Croatia for place 5-6. Iceland vs. France does not matter in the group. Altough France will win the group if they win later. But the places wont change. Great game by Spain, again.
