France complete semi-finals

France complete semi-finals

All four semi-finalists are known, but the composition has not been decided yet: Like Denmark, Spain   and Sweden before France has reached the round of the last four teams after their 31:26 victory against Norway. If the French team will finish first or second in Group I will be decided on Tuesday, same as the constellation of Sweden and Denmark in their direct duel. Before the final Match Day of the Main Round France and Spain are equal in points (7:1).

Group I: France –Norway 31:26 (17:14)

It took only two Main Round matches before the reigning champion had booked the ticket for the semi-final like Spain before. But “Les Bleus” had to break hard resistance of the Norwegians  specially in the first half, The lead changed constantly and no team could extend the gap decisively. But right after the break the team of coach Claude Onesta was able to put more pressure on the Norwegian defense and extended the lead to 21:16 in minute 37 and 24:16 in minute 41. Norway fought hard but could not arrange to turn the game. In the end the French team took a well-deserved victory and the Icelandic hope for the semis and for a revenge for the Olympics final in Beijing was not successful.

Good game from France. Not great as too hasty in some action especially at the end of the first half. But overall experience has marked the point as the coach said and as such anticipated in the first half. Good management at the end of the game when Norway tightened at 3 points despite the fact that they were leading by 9 points 15 minutes before the end of the game. Overall experience paid off and I disagree with the article, the French team always had the lead, not consequently but enough to insure the final victory. Needless to say that the Norway didn't make it an easy victory and great relation between the central players and the advanced middle position when the French defense lacked at the middle of the second half. Now let's see who we're going to be facing. Keep going hard! Allez les Bleus!!!
France all the way. By far the best team. Best players on every position. More like a machine...
Congratulations to Spain and France. One of you will be overwhelmed, impressed and astonished when you see the little gym in Kristianstad where the Swedish organizers in their wisdom have decided to settle a semifinal between Denmark and one of you. It is a devaluation of a semifinal and a joke. Not in this or last century, a World Handball Championship to be so poorly organized.
Congrats Spain and France !!! I agree with Johns completely, it's a joke and it's almost scandalous to have players and fans play their match in a small gym. It's almost as if they are saying to US, we don't care about YOU, we only care about our SWEDISH National Team. Shame on IHF and shame on the organizers for making this venue available to the fans who have support this disorganized World handball Championship More available at http://nordic-handball.blogspot.com
I totally agree with the disappointed danish fans, and all other fans. Put the prestige aside, give Kristianstad some compensation for not having the semifinal, and play both matches in Malmö, that´s the only sensible thing to do. And one more thing, who´s the moderator for the comments here and on Facebook, it´s a disgrace what´s allowed to be posted on these sites. It´s more of a warzone, than a fanzone. Is this the 19:th century or what. I thought my homecountry of Sweden had come far in these matters, apparently not. Please, give all of us fans of the most exciting sport a fair chance to support our teams live. All the best to teams and fans of the four remaining countries. Per, Malmö,Sweden
what is going on in IHF heads?? world cup semi-final in a place for 4000 people, when we have malmø arene seeting 12000. only one answer to this, swedish officials are trying to awoid denmark getting the final against sweden. we all know this would mean 5-6000 danish fans instead of 1000-1500 french or spanish.
