Semifinals finalized: Sweden vs. France, Denmark vs. Spain

The last two matches of both Main Round groups had to decide the constellation in the semi-finals: And as Denmark beat Sweden they ranked first in group II and meet Spain in the semi-final on Friday on 28 January (20:30) in Kristianstad. France won the group I by their seventh victory against Iceland and will play against host Sweden (18:00) in Malmö on Friday. Spain and France are equal in points, but France have the better goal difference and rank ahead the Iberians. Denmark is the only team with eight victories in eight matches and lead the final ranking with 10:0 points ahead of Sweden (6:4). Aside Serbia beat Argentina and play for the places 9/10 against Norway. The Gauchos will meet Germany in the 11/12 placement match.

Semi-finals:
Sweden – France (Friday, 28.01, 18.00 in Malmö)
Denmark – Spain (Friday, 28.01, 20.30 in Kristianstad)

Ticket vouchers for Malmö/Lund

The two Semi-finals will be played in Malmö and Kristianstad. It will be decided late January 25 which one will be played where. For the Main Round in Malmö and Lund it will be decided January 20 what matches that will be played in Lund. It is however already decided that Denmark and Sweden (if they are qualified) will play in Malmö. To be sure that you will have a ticket for the arena where your team is playing, we have for these occasions a limited number of ticket vouchers. These ticket vouchers will be changed into a ticket for the right arena. If you have a voucher and your team didn´t qualify the voucher will always be valid for Malmö Arena. As said, the numbers are limited, so first to buy are the lucky ones.

One semi-final to Kristianstad

Finals and one of the semi-finals in Malmo. The second has been undecided, until today, when the board of Handball 2011 decided to locate the other semi-final to Kristianstad.

From the beginning the intention was that Kristianstad would get one of Malmö's matches in the main round, but this was not the International Handball Federation, IHF, along with. It was too far to travel for the teams, said IHF. For the same reason Skövde may not "help" Jönköping with matches in the main round.

One placement matches after the main round will be located in Kristianstad as well. Which one will be determined right after the main round is finished.

- I'm sure there will be a party out of the ordinary in Kristianstad, says Arne Elovsson, president of the World Cup Company.

The sale of tickets for the semi-finals is planned to March 2010, when even more final tickets will be sold.

Semi-final in Kristianstad or Malmö

Either Kristianstad or Malmö will host the second semi-final of the World Handball World Championship 2011.
The other two candidates, Jönköping and Halmstad, has today been informed that they are no longer current.
Now there are two options:
Either one semifinal will be played in Kristianstad and the second in Malmö, or both in Malmö.
Now the two alternatives will be evaluated before a decision at the next board meeting on November 6.
The semi-finals will be played Friday, January 28th, 2011.

Previously it’s decided that the preliminary round will be played in four groups of six teams.
Group A: Gothenburg (Sweden will play here, first match January 13)
Group B: Linköping / Norrköping
Group C: Malmö / Lund
Group D: Kristianstad / Lund
Main Round will be played in Jönköping / Skövde and Malmö / Kristianstad / Lund
The final and the bronze match will be played January 30 in Malmö Arena.
