Hansen blir officiell resebyrå för VM 2011

Hansen Event & Conference, som ingår i 2Entertainkoncernen, har utsetts till officiell resebyrå för handbolls-VM.
 
– Att ett och samma företag levererar underhållning, sponsoraktiviteter och resetjänster är optimalt, säger Frank Ström, commercial manager för Handbolls-VM 2011.

 

– Att få vara delaktig i ett av de största idrottsevenemang som Sverige någonsin har stått värd för gör oss både stolta och glada, säger Benny Karlsson, vd för Hansen Event & Conference.

 

Uppdraget innebär att Hansen är exklusiv partner till VM-bolaget när det gäller resetjänster och prioriterad partner för events, vilket kan vara sponsoraktiviteter och underhållning för såväl sponsorer, deltagare som fans. Hansen fick uppdraget i tuff konkurrens.

Melker Andersson officiell VM-kock

Melker Andersson, internationellt prisbelönt kock med engagemang i ett flertal kända restauranger, blir officiell kock och matinspiratör för VM i handboll i Sverige 2011. Tillsammans med hotellkedjan Choice – där alla spelare kommer att bo under turneringen – blir det här en stor satsning på maten under evenemanget.
– Målet är att turneringen ska bli omtalat för sin matglädje, säger Melker Andersson.

Som officiell VM-kock ska Melker Andersson fungera som matinspiratör för VM-hotellen, vara med och utforma menyer för lagen och kunna hjälpa landslagsledningen med kosten för det svenska laget.

Melker har också ett speciellt intresse för handboll. Han har stått i mål för Umeå IK i ”Norrlandsserien”, men karriären kom aldrig så långt som till landslaget.

– Jag nådde tyvärr inte ända fram som spelare. Nu är det extra roligt att få närma mig handbollens värld igen, säger Melker Andersson.

African Championship: Gold for Tunisia and Angola

Angola’s women and Tunisia’s men stood on top of the podium at the 19th African Championships in Egypt. As it was the tenth African Nations title for Angola, Tunisia won Gold for the eight time.

Angola beat Tunisia in a high tensioned women’s final which was decided only ten seconds before the end, 31:30. Tunisia won against the men’s team of host nation Egypt 24:21. As those four teams had been qualified for the next World Championships before, the men from Algeria and the women from Ivory Coast snatched the last tickets to Sweden (men) and Brazil (women) and took the Bronze medals. Algeria had no problems in winning against DR Congo 30:22, Ivory Coast finished the hopes of the Algerian women to qualify for WCH’s with both national teams by winning 32:28.

The road to Sweden

Eleven teams are qualified for Men's Handball World Championship 2011 in Sweden:

France, as reigning champions; Sweden, as host nation and Iceland, Poland and Croatia from EURO 2010 in Austria.

By February 19 three more tickets were played out. Top three teams of the Asian Championship; Korea, Bahrain and Japan qualified.

The day after, February 20, the medal winners from the African Championship: Tunisia, Egypt and Algeria got their tickets to Sweden.

The rest of the European qualification will take place in June (12/13 and 19/20), with knockout games as following:

  • Austria-Netherlands
  • Norway-Lithuania
  • Slovenia-Hungary
  • Germany-Greece
  • Slovakia-Ukraine
  • Serbia-Czech Republik
  • Romania-Russia
  • Denmark-Switzerland
  • Portugal-Spain

The winners will make it to Sweden.

At the same time the Pan-American continent will play their qualification matches.

Sweden, as host, and France, as champions, have been qualified for Men's Handball World Championship 2011 for a long time now.

Now three more teams are qualified.

After the final matches in main round in EURO 2010 it stands clear that all four teams in the semi finals in Austria can prepare themselves for the championship in Sweden in January 2011.

The remainding 19 teams will qualifiy in continental qualification matches during spring 2010.

One year to go today

Today, we are only one year away from the great party. One year away from the opening match of the Men’s World Handball Championship in Sweden.

January 13, 2011, is the opening of the Handball World Championship in Sweden. There are 365 days left for preparations.

– Now every day is important for us if Men’s Handball World Championship will be the Championship for the world that we want it to be. Everything has to be prepared and nothing to be neglected. This is a big challenge for everyone involved, says Arne Elovsson, Director of the Men’s Handball World Championship 2011.

Today, only two teams are qualified for the championships 2011: Sweden, as host nation and France as defending champions. At the European Championship, which starts on Tuesday, three more nations qualifies. Then the audience in this three countries becomes interesting target groups wich gives more opportunities in ticket sales.

Axel Sjöblad ny bloggare

Vi är stolta att kunna presentera att Axel Sjöblad, världsmästare i handboll och styrelseledamot i Handbolls-VM 2011 AB, är ny bloggare på handball2011.com.

Axel ingick i truppen som tog VM-guld 1990. Han var också med och tog silver i OS 1992. Han hann med 75 landskamper innan han slutade i landslaget 1993.

I handbollsbagaget har han bland annat elitseriespel i Lugi, proffsspel i franska UMS Pontault-Combault och en sejour som expertkommentator i TV4. Idag är Axel Sjöblad "Regional Vice President Sales" på medicinteknikbolaget Gambro.

TV4 host broadcaster 2011

The Swedish TV4 will be primarily responsible for broadcasting from the Men's Handball World Championship 2011.

TV4 will broadcast all matches in the WCh 2011.

- We are pleased that we have now secured the rights to all the great handball championships the next few years and we also had the confidence to act Host Broadcaster for WCh 2011 at home, which will be a fantastic sport and television experience, says Hans Pekkari, sports manager at TV4 Group and CEO of TV4 Sport on TV4's website (Swedish only).
