Malmö

Counting down

And the large portal is counting down to Christmas?

Nope.

The clock in the City of Malmö is counting down to something much more important.

Today is a special day for many people in Sweden. It's First Sunday of Advent and the stores in the cities are open, there are lights and candles and kind of cozy.

The word Advent means "arrival", and we are really waiting... for Karabatic, Balic, Kim Andersson, Palmarsson, Lijewski, Hansen, Løke...

Champ trailer

Here's the Championship Trailer.

It's Malmö Town, the host of the final of the championship, that use it whenever there is an event of any kind in the neighbourhood (you are not allowed to drive faster than 30 km/h with it, so it stays in the southernmost of Sweden).

It's loaded with cool marketing material for Men's Handball World Championship.

Playing schedule

A long day's meeting is now finished and we're on the road towards Bromma airport.

Today the Board has decided how they want the playing schedule should look like. If the IHF agrees and the organising committee get fair deals with the local organisations, the following cities will be able to call themselves 'World Championship Cities' in 2011:

Malmö

Kristianstad

Lund

Gothenburg

Jönköping

Linköping

Norrköping

Skövde

One semi-final and the final are going to be played in Malmö. Where the second semi-final should be localised is the only thing that remains unclear.
