Handball on the road

Our very first Championship Car arrived the other day.

Isn't it lovely?

There will come more of them closer to the Championship, all in co-operation with Volvo, the official car supplier and national sponsor.

A Facebook issue

Something has happened on our Facebook fan page. Tonight we suddenly got the message that our publishing rights have been blocked. Really no further details more than a link to the terms of use, which we haven't violated.

We have tried to reach the FB support in this matter, but with no success so far. Hopefully the problem will be solved in a short time. We are not the only page administrators that have this problem, so it might just be a bug.

Pics from the Swedish teams training trip to Bahamas

Here's two lovely pics (thanks to Crazy Pictures) from the Swedish national handball team's training trip to Bahamas.

You might see the TV camera. And yes, there are more to come further on...

Swedish final in the WCh final arena

There is a great party going on in Malmö Arena right now. Sävehof from Gothenburg just won both the women's and the men's final in the Swedish Championship.

Among the spectators we found three former national coaches for the national team; Bengt Johansson, Ingemar Linnell and Caj-Åke Andersson.

A Swedish trainer about the WCh teams from Asia and Africa

Soon it is time, the starting time gets closer every day, which is amazing! But there are some obstacles along the way, or is there?

Malmö Arena will be hosting one of the biggest events in the Nordic countries of all time. In this post I figured I'd look closer at some of the teams that will take part in tournament.

The Swedish Championship finals will be the dress rehearsal for the World Championships so it will be fun to see how this is handled.

I can imagine a gigantic event with fanzones, enormous commerical balloons in the air, VIP rooms with all manner of celebrities mingling with champagneglasses all the time. Then you want good handball too of course, but this time I want handball to really brag to the world about the fact that we've separated ourselves from the unprioritised sports and flex our muscles! This is our chance to get sponsors from other sports such as ice hockey, football and above all basketball and floorball so BRAG!

OK, there are other championships...

Draw today, to EURO 2012 in Serbia.

And there are different ways to talk about it, but it really could be worse for Sweden.

Full respect for Slovakia, but we could have got Spain, Iceland, Slovenia or Russia...

Montenegro is a nice handball country, but it could have been Ukraine or Austria...

Upon that we got a team from the pre qualification, most likely Belgium or Israel.

It will be, or at least should be, a walk in the park.

If Sweden got an esy one there are a couple of really hard qualification groups:

Group 2, with Croatia, Spain, Romania and Lithuania

Group 3, with Poland, Slovenia, Ukraine and Portugal

Group 5, with Germany, Iceland, Austria and the winner of a pre qualification

There will be fights...

You'll find the whole draw on the European Handball Federations site.

Swedish star might play the WCh 2011

In a interview with the Swedish THW Kiel star Marcus Ahlm in Segeberg Zeitung we find some breaking news at the end. So far, Marcus has said *no comments' on all issues concerning his participation in the WCh 2011, referring to his bad back. His body needs the rest weeks that championships and other national matches offer.

But in an interview with the German newspaper, he shows an opening:

"Grundsätzlich will ich aber nicht die WM abschreiben. Vielleicht muss ich einen oder anderen the Lehrgang ausfallen lassen. Das wiederum müsste der schwedische Coach akzeptieren."

Freely translated: I would not write off the World Championship. Maybe I have to pass one or another training match, which the Swedish coach in that case has to accept.

Here's a link to a brand new Google map with all the venues.

When the fan zones are decided we will put them here as well.
