AustriaGroup B / Presidents Cup

The Austrian team will play their fourth Handball World Championships in Sweden 2011.

The best Austrian result ever was in the World Championship 1938 in Germany, when the Austrians won the silver medal, after looing against Germany in the Final.

In the World Championship in 1958 in the DDR, Austria failed in the preliminary round and ended in 11th place.

Next time the Austrians qualified for Men's Handball World Championship was 1993 in Sweden, when Austria had one of the best scorers in Andreas Dittert (33 goals), but finished in 14th place.

As a host Austria qualified for their first European Handball Championship in 2010.
